How to bring back a dragonpriest

ok Lord and master here, something I’ve been thinking of doing as I am working on several things at once, such as my “lineage” builds, Three tune build, blacksmith build, and of course my Choose your path story on this site. I’ve been thinking of making a Skyrim “modern” build of every dragonpriest. However I ran into difficulty on how to even bring back a dragonpriest as they were before there entombment or as you see them in Skyrim. Is it possible to, for example; bring Azhidal as he was before entombment into Skyrim without breaking lore and what not?

  • I made a build where you play a random adventurer that gets possessed by Red Eagle after you defeat him at his tomb. Maybe something like that could work for your dragon priests?

    • Possession...I can see how that would work. Then it would be playstyle, I’d have to have the mentality of that priest. So research into every individuals dragonpriest will be needed. Otar I believe is what they call mad, that would be a fun one to play.If my knowledge is correct then Ahzidal is consumed by anger and or obsession I believe. Making my own dragonpriest “Devotion” was easy, following the way of Skyrim built dragonpriest I think will be a bit more difficult.

      • Each mask has a particular set of enchantments. Perhaps the gameplay with every priest could revolve around maximizing the potential of each mask enchantment. This still leaves room for each individual priests personality in life to inform how they'd fight ingame as a build.

        •     Hmm..I like that idea as well curse never dying. I was thinking each mask is enchanted, but what if one “unknown” aspect of the artifact was that it harbored a sentient priest. (Sentient) correct me if that usage is wrong. The original dragonpriest which then manifests itself as the wearer relies on it more and more throughout the world. Such as the priest mask which improves archery and alchemy I believe. What mask is that? I’ve always liked the idea of trying a full on archer/alchemy build. So if I understand this correctly, base a priest in life off of the mask enchantments. So the mask of archery would be a hunter-type build then? But then how to explain how they become a priest? I mean, as a “priest” when that time comes; I suppose I could use bound bow then. Also is their a priest mask which improves blacksmithing? That would make a perfect fit for my blacksmith build, I can mash priest and blacksmith together

          • I suppose each could bear within it the soul of their priest who will go on to possess any who use the masks over time. As far as how they became priests in the past to begin with you could pretty much make up whatever you want.

Ancient man formed cults to worship dragons. I’d imagine any who showed enough devotion could become a dragon priest. (Someone with actual lore knowledge help us out here)

            • There must have been a rite of passage or something. Maybe the masks were made from a dragon shout like fire or something and melded to the face of the priest. I meen unless they each made there own mask to compliment skills they had obtained through out time, which would explain each unique mask enchantments. I agree, someone with lore knowledge a little help please.

              • There are a number of ways the masks could have been created. I have a personal headcanon that a piece of each priest's soul was used in the creation of their personal masks.

                • So then to really understand the enchants one must think, were the enchants on the masks hobbies or legitimate combat-fit enchants. Meaning each enchant the mask had on then that is what the priest combat scenario would be. Such as morokei’s magic enchant. If a piece of the soul were used in the creation then that must have meant morokei was a mage? Or rahgot was a Warrior before priesthood? Or the mask with archery enchant was a type of archer/hunter then?

                  • Pretty much. Before their initiation, they must have had special skills beforehand, which they encorporated into their priesthood. They may have incorporated magic into their skills (or in Morokei's case, more magic). This is my idea of what they may have been skilled in:

                    Hevnoraak: Heavy-armored Alchemist Mage
                    Krosis: Agent/Assassin
                    Morokei: Archmage
                    Nahkriin: Dragon-themed Battlemage
                    Otar: High resistances
                    Rahgot: Warrior/Knight
                    Vokun: Control Mage
                    Volsung: Adventurer/Rogue
                    Konahrik: Undying master of Restoration

                    But that's just my opinion.

                    • That sounds like a good opinion, which mask is the archery/alchemy mask? I have wanted to try an archer/alchemical build for ages and it seems like a good starting position for my dragonpriest themed builds.
