ESO - Classes and Skills

ESO is home to a host of unique TTRPG-esque classes unlike any seen anywhere else in the Elder Scrolls universe. They are the Dragonknight, the Templar, the Noghtblade, the Sorcerer, and more recently, the Warden and the Necromancer. They developers of the game have launched new classes alongside Chapters in the storyline, so we know that new classes are a possibility.

Classes arent the only thing that defines your character in ESP however. There is also a vast arsenal of abilities available to your character through individual skill lines unlocked from guilds such as the Dark Brotherhood and the Fighters guild. When new chapters release there arent always new classes, for example Summerset saw the introduction of a Psijic Order skill line that gives the player the ability to manipulate time.

My question for tlthis new thread is twofold: what are your favorite current classes and skills, and which ones would you like to see added into the game

  • I’m still very much into Nightblades. You’d think DPS would be all they’re good for but they’re surprisingly just as suitable for healing and tank roles.

I’m currently training up my khajiit nightblade bow assassin,  but once I’ve hit the max CP and gotten a hold of some end game gear I’d like to try out a nightblade healer.

  • I personally would love a illusion based class. They haven't delved much into illusion in eso as far as I'm aware and I think it could be a great cool part of the game. Really interesting options for both PvP and PvE content.

I love all the current classes for different reasons, but the raw FPS potential of a Warden Werewolf build is pretty damn awesome, and looks sick what with the wolf transformation and the bear pet.

If I had to pick a skill line to include I'd probably want them to base it on some sort of wild hunt/valenwood/yffre magic.

    • An illusionist class Id imagine could be their first foray into a dedicated support/ debuffer class.

      • Yeah it'd be super interesting to see it play out. Maybe the ultimate would make one ot two copies of the player that functioned with decent AI so no NPC and only the most perceptive of players could spit the real one. I think that'd be a super interesting ability.

And imagine an ability that allows temporary invisiblity in combat. Super cool stuff.

    • I imagine you are thinking of something closer to a mesmer in GW2; yeah there's a lot of cool stuff to be done there. I would say that nightblades already have a really great illusion toolkit, however.

Invisibility: They can turn invisible at will with their cloak (invisible to NPCs, and in PVP other factions literally can't see you)

Fear: they can choose an PBAoE fear spell, OR instead choose the morph to leave fear traps on the ground.

"Copies of self": They can choose "Dark Shade" - a shadow summon that attacks with you, or "Shadow Image" - a shadow summon that stands still, letting you move away from it to fight and then teleport back to get out of trouble.

Magical Escape: Phantasmal Escape ability grants reduced damage and frees you from all crowd control abilities.

"Blink": Teleport Strike/Ambush/Lotus Fan is just the coolest looking gap closer ever - BANG from 20 meters away I'm on you.

AoE Magical Stun: Soul Tether ultimate

  • If I had to guess what class they’ll release next I’d say Bard. I could see its three subclasses branching into defensive buffs, offensive buffs, and debuffs.

It’d be a great chance to explore more dedicated support, debuffer play styles.
