He's good in the early game but very quickly gets outclassed by the best boy, Rex. Rex is a dog. Therefore he's better. The fact that ED-E is so useless to me in game made me really uninterested in his lore, but after finally getting myself through his questline for the review I'm doing, I realized he's actually pretty neat. So for anyone who can't be bothered to use non lonesome road ED-E, here's all of this round robot's lore. I'm still using Rex though.

ED-E's Past

Eyebot Duraframe Subject E (often shortened to ED-E or Eddie) is a combat eyebot prototype created by enclave scientist Whitley at Adams Air Force Base. Still boring so here's the weird part. It's an enclave eyebot in the middle of the Mojave wasteland, and the west coast enclave is essentially non-existent at this point. Why would the enclave spend the resources and send a precious combat prototype into the middle of the god damn desert by itself? Well it turns out ED-E isn't even from the east. Adams Air Force base is in the Capital Wasteland. Apparently the attention given to the eyebot prototypes was diverted to the research and creation of the Hellfire Armour (which is a story for another day). ED-E was then given the task of transporting important data about Poseidon Energy to the Navarro Enclave base. Somehow, this tiny round boy, armed only with a miniature tesla cannon (which is admittedly quite powerful), almost made it to his destination across the wasteland, and the only stop he had (to our knowledge) is a pit stop at a hidden Enclave base in Chicago for repairs. That’s one hell of an origin story.

ED-E During FNV

ED-E was rudely interrupted in the Mojave Wasteland by a raider who shot it with two .308 rounds. Even the resilient ED-E couldn’t withstand that. ED-E dropped deactivated around Primm, and at this point it would seem the journey to Navarro was over. If you’ve been listening at all though, you’ll remember that this robot is effectively immortal. A courier for the Mojave Express found ED-E, and decided to take it in to Mojave Express supervisor Johnson Nash, in the hopes that it would aid them with package delivery. Despite his efforts, Nash couldn’t repair it, and ED-E simply sat on the counter of the Primm Mojave Express as the town was overrun by convicts. So surely this is the end of him, right? The convicts are gonna scrap him? Nope. Some dude comes around Primm, clears the place of the convicts, and repairs him. That guy was The Courier.

After this, ED-E travelled with The Courier for quite a while. Nothing too interesting would happen until they reached a junkyard and talked to Old Lady Gibson. To The Courier’s surprise, ED-E started playing a voice log.

“My name is Whitley. I'm a researcher at Adams Air Force base. Until recently I was in charge of the Duraframe reinforcement project for the combat model Eyebots. Eyebot Duraframe Subject E is both the prototype, and the last functional model in this test group. I was prepared to make several significant upgrades to the machines. However, as the project was canceled and all Duraframe assets are being diverted to Hellfire Armor, I am sending this model to the Navarro outpost. If you are listening to this log from one of our Enclave Outposts in Chicago, give this unit whatever repairs it needs so it can continue to Navarro.”

It seemed certain phrases and words were triggers for ED-E, and those triggers made it play voice logs. The Courier only ever finds two voice logs in the Mojave, and these are what give us a good amount of important information about this journey. There’s also some extra lore you get from ED-E’s clone in the Lonesome Road downloadable content. That story pertains more to the story of Whitley and ED-E’s clone, and I plan to make a more bite-sized article about it another time. Here is the second voice log:

“Navarro outpost scientists, I am glad that ED-E has reached you. You will find several databanks of information on this machine. Please handle this information with the utmost care as it represents the sum total of the results of my research on the Duraframe Eyebots. There are also several databanks with information on my research into Poseidon Energy and some projects they were working on in the Mojave area.”

After this voice log is triggered, The Courier is given a choice. Here’s how.

Brotherhood of Steel Senior Knight Lorenzo calls the courier through ED-E, asking rather politely for ED-E as The Brotherhood had found out about the research on ED-E after listening in on it. Then he asks The Courier to take it to a Brotherhood patrol, which happens to be dead, so Lorenzo instead asks for The Courier to take it to their bunker. During the transmission sent by Lorenzo asking ED-E to be taken to their bunker, the transmission is rather rudely interrupted by one April Martimer of the Followers of the Apocalypse, who asks ED-E to be taken to the Followers so they may obtain information that they believe will aid them.

The Courier either takes it to The Followers of the Apocalypse or The Brotherhood of Steel. With either of these choices, ED-E completes his purpose of delivering valuable research across the wasteland. Maybe not to ED-E’s original destination, but it will still aid a group, and the information is still preserved for research and the eventual rebirth of large scale civilization. After this point ED-E either continues to travel as a vigilant comrade with The Courier, or is taken on by a trading caravan as a protector. ED-E’s story ends here.

Fallout Lore Event: Legends of the Westhttps://TheSkyForge.ning.com/groups/fallout-lore-group/forum/fallout-lore-event-legends-of-the-west2020-09-02T15:09:44.000Z2020-09-02T15:09:44.000ZDeltaFoxhttps://TheSkyForge.ning.com/members/DeltaFox

Hello, wastelanders from all around! Commie ghosts what don't know they're dead."

Ok yeah, maybe this is a bit less serious than the storie of the burned man but I wanted to share the story No-Bark told me. He said that there were a bunch of fanatic communist ghosts in an old world facility. This is bizzare as is but it get's better. The communist ghosts are allegedly in the old world facility to gain access to rockets that are there. So far we have fanatic communist ghosts in an old world facility trying to gain access to rockets that are allegedly still there. But it get's better. Once again according to No-Bark, the ghosts are trying to get into these rockets so that they can fly up to the moon, draw the face of Vladmir Lenin on it, and then paint it pink. So there are communist ghosts in an old world facility trying to gain access to rockets hidd there in order to fly to the moon, draw Vladmir Lenin's face on it, and paint it pink. It is the funniest thing I've ever heard from an old senile man. I stayed in the town for about a week as a break, and got to have a talk with The Courier (though she wasn't as known at the time), who apparently went to clear the old world facility of ghouls. He had information from the facility that dispels No-Bark's theory, but the tale of the repconn test facility is for another time*. Next time you're around a fire or in a bar with some pals, make sure to share the story with them.

*unless someone else wants to write about it if so let me know

Lore Article: The Burned Man|Wasteland Campfire Stories #1https://TheSkyForge.ning.com/groups/fallout-lore-group/forum/lore-article-the-burned-man-wasteland-campfire-stories-12020-07-12T20:00:17.000Z2020-07-12T20:00:17.000Zthe_holy_dunsparcehttps://TheSkyForge.ning.com/members/theholydunsparce

I've decided to start a series of terminal entries on the campfire stories I hear in bars and on, well, campsites. It's why they're called campfire stories after all. The first one I have is the tale of a legionare turned kind leader of a tribe. He goes by Joshua Graham but is more commonly known to the wasteland beyond Zion as "The Burned Man."

Joshua Graham

I'd guess Joshua Graham was born around 2219, I'm only going off what I'd assume his age is (64). He grew up in New Canaan, a Mormon commune built around the ruins of the old world city of Ogden. For those who don't know what Mormon means, an article about old world religions will come later. The time he grew up in was a peaceful one, and he became a missionary and translator due to his natural aptitude for language. Because of his intelligence the Followers of the Apocalypse recognized him as a valuable asset, and Graham was quickly chosen after the Followers put out a request for help with their journey to the Grand Canyon. So Graham left Canaan and headed south along Highway 89 and the Long 15, meating some Followers along the way. This initial part of his journey was up to 2246.

Malpais Legate

In 2247 Graham and his group made their first long term stop with the Blackfoot tribe. At first the tribe was quite hospitable and welcome to the education the Followers were bringing, but somewhere along the line it seems their relationship was soured. Whether it was misenterpretation on Graham's part, or a simple misunderstanding, the Blackfoots held the entire expedition for ransom. The Blackfoots were at war with several other groups, and were blatantly losing. This was obviously an issue, as many groups wouldn't care for another prisoner and would probably just outright kill them. One of Grahams partners on his journey, Edward Sallow, decided it would be best if he took charge of the situation and aided the Blackfoots in their war, despite the objectioins of another follower in the group. Graham and Sallow turned the tribe from an unorganized erratic forced into a cunning and dangerous force. The Blackfoots waged war against any who opposed them and did quite well, which eventually lead to Sallow choosing the name Caesar, and the creation of Caesar's Legion.

Graham became the Malpais Legate. Though he wasn't the especially amazing with tactics, his brutality and lack of mercy made him infamous among both his enemies and his friends. Caesar trusted his brutality and had him command that fateful siege on Hoover Dam all those years ago. He succeeded at first, but led his troops into the famous trap at Boulder City. This forced him and his troops to retreat. Caesar was not pleased, and decided to punish him quite severely. He lit Graham on fire and threw him into the Grand Canyon. Miraculously, he survived.

The Legion sent assassins after him. They all failed.

The Burned Man

Graham made his way back to New Canaan. He crawled for three months, always having to endure the pain to replace all his bandages. Three months of scavenging whilst burnt all over. He was welcomed home, his family cared not for the atrocities he commited, they only cared for the fact that he had returned. This time of peace was brief as a tribe known as The White Legs were equipped by the legion and attacked New Canaan. He was forced to flee to Zion Canyon, where he joined the Dead Horses tribe and helped them by acting as a war chief. He wanted vengence against The White Legs. When the Courier arrived in New Canaan they aided Graham against The White Legs and drove them out of Zion and New Canaan. They killed those who stood in their way and the Courier convined Graham to spare their leader. Graham was a more merciful soul from that day on. He's much kinder than he's described in the old stories. He openly invites caravans for trade and the tribes of Zion have prospered. As a result Grahams tale has been forgotten by many, though this tale of redemption is one worth telling.

This was the the story of The Burned Man.

The man who was baptized twice. Once in water... and once in flames.

Lore Article: Goodspringshttps://TheSkyForge.ning.com/groups/fallout-lore-group/forum/lore-article-goodsprings2020-07-07T07:41:42.000Z2020-07-07T07:41:42.000Zthe_holy_dunsparcehttps://TheSkyForge.ning.com/members/theholydunsparce

Hello! This will be my first lore article, and I hope this makes a good impression. I'll be writing this from the perspective of a wastelander, and it's post courier in the independent vegas ending. I guess I'm breaking character for the begining here, but just be quiet and let me have my fun.

Goodsprings

I've delivered packages and escorted caravans to every corner of the Mojave, but recently after Vegas gained independence I realized something strange. I've had an influx in deliveries and escorts heading to a small town called Goodsprings. I had recognized the name from the storys about The Courier. This town is the place The Courier allegedly "rose from the grave," though it seems what really happened is decently different from this. One of my aspirations is to be a credible source and well known source of wastleand information, so to learn more about this town, I settled there for two years. The things I learnt about this small town weren't too interesting, but it's a story worth telling for the sake of preservation.

Pre-war Goodsprings

Doc Mitchell (who for some reason wouldn't tell me his last name) has quite the collection of pre-war books. He was kind enough to let me read them, which gave me a decent amount of information about pre-war Goodsprings. It seems the area around Goodsprings had a wealth of metals. Lead, silver, zinc, copper, and gold to be specific. This made miners start a small camp in the area, which later became the Goodsprings Township in 1900. I It remained a small collection of buildings until a railroad was constructed in 1910, and Goodsprings was given the aid of mining companies who wanted to capitalize off it's prime location. Goodsprings had a rapid expansion as a result, though it remained a small town. This information all came from an old world tourist pamphlet that was tucked behind one of the shelves, it's a miracle that I found it.

Post-war Goodsprings

Goodsprings was abandoned for quite some time after the bombs dropped, and was settled a short time before 2281 after settlers were given a by the New California Republic to develop a small town with the main purpose of providing water to neighbouring areas. It also served as a low risk mining settlement, but it seems after Sloan was built that wasn't a necessary function for Goodsprings to serve, so Goodsprings has no mining industry and shifted to agriculture instead. Bighorners are abundant, and they roam the paths between buildings, much like the descriptions of the pre-war country "India" and how the small villages there had cows roaming the streets. Goodsprings is an amazing source of bighorner products and water due to its location which provides useful road access which leads to both Primm and New Vegas, as well as other small camps in the area. Caravans often use it as a rest stop, and many ship the water and bighorner hide to New Vegas and the other locations. I believe that given about 5 years Goodsprings will expand to the size of Primm. That is unless the tunnelers get to it first...

Locations of Interest

Of course people would like to know what shops and locations are worth going to within Goodsprings, and since there's so little, I'd say all of them! I'll go through them all in this segment though.

The first thing you'll see if you're coming in from the road from Primm will probably be the bright lights of the sign for the Prospector Saloon, a saloon owned by Trudy, who's been keeping the bar in shape for years. She's easy going yet assertive, I've heard she even made some great khans pay their tab. Don't let that scare you off though, as she's definitely one of the most skilled bartenders I've ever seen in the western wasteland. Most importantly though, she owns a store that provides a damn good source of whiskey.

To the left of the saloon you'll see an old general store that still serves the same purpose. It's not so aptly named the Goodsprings General Store, and it's owned by Chet. Chet is simply a businessman, and frankly I wasn't able to learn much about him, other than the fact that he went to New Vegas twice in his life. He told me a bunch of stories about his time in New Vegas that I frankly didn't want to hear (Chet if you're reading this, I'm sorry, but it's the truth). He sells weapons, weapon mods, ammo, and armour, stimpaks, as well as other miscellaneous items. In my opinion it should be called the Goodsprings Armoury, but i suppose Chet is choosing to keep it this way for the sake of tradition.

If you need to see a doctor because you got bit by a gecko or walked by some toxic waste, go up the road to doc Mitchell's house, where he can provide you with medical equipment or surgery. If it's urgent he seems to do it free. Mitchell's a kind, clever, and quick-witted man, in almost all of my conversations with him he's made some sort of joke. He's a skilled sugeon, after all he is the one who picked bits of bullets out of The Couriers brain. I trust no one more with treating my cazador stings and deathclaw wounds.

This has been my terminal about the town of Goodsprings. I hope it made you respect the small town at least a tiny bit more. Now if you'll excuse me, I have bounties to hunt and caps to make.
