Blessings of the Madgod - Chapter Two

Chapter Two

“You are to hold this position with your life, Vicca. The Aureal are as overconfident and bull-headed as ever, and a spy has informed us that they intend to enter through the main passage, which should come as no surprise to anyone. However, it will still benefit our cause to have capable Kriskengo guards such as yourself defending the Underkeep hallways, in case they decide to change their minds at the last minute. Lead our Sisters to their posts and prepare for war, Vicca. It will be a glorious and gruesome slaughter, and we will finally rid Cylarne of the foolish Aureal once and for all! Blessings of the Madgod upon you, Dark Sister. Victory will soon be ours!”

Grakendrig Ulfri gave Vicca a stern stare and nodded with inspiring intent. She then marched toward the stairs leading to the upper west-wing of upper Cylarne, leaving Vicca alone to address her fellow Kriskengo guards.

“Blessings, Dark Sisters. It would seem as though our battle is almost won, but let us not succumb to the same arrogance as our immortal enemies. Now is our time to secure our long-awaited triumph. We must not lose here today, or else thousands of years of battle would have been for NOTHING! Let us defend this ground which is ours, and attack our prey from the shadows. Sisters and worms, secure your posts!”

Vicca diligently defended the post which she stood, as commanded by her superior, Grakendrig Ulfri. She was a daedra whom she admired and respected and she would hope and aspire to achieve her rank as well one day. Vicca would have stood her ground uninterrupted, as expected of her, were it not for one of her Kriskengo guards, Xalo. He had somehow managed to drop his newly sharpened dagger into his foot, which was now shaking and bleeding profusely. He cried out in pain and looked towards Vicca with a sad look of embarrassment and failure.

“I’m s-s-sorry, Viccaa-ah! I.. I d-don’t kn-kno-know what h-happened!”

He was now crouching, trying to decipher how to retrieve his dagger from his foot while attempting to cause as little pain as possible, which only complicated matters as he was too scared to pull it out in the first place.

Vicca gagged as she made attempts to speak, appearing to almost choke on her own impending vomit. "By the Staff, you filthy maggots disgust me. Do males harbour no pride at all?" She bent down on one knee, and swiftly extracted the dagger from the cowering male's foot in a single motion. His screams of agonizing pain screeched into her ears and echoed throughout the fort. The male daedra’s cowardly cries sent Vicca into an infernal rage, as they could have very well been heard by opportunistic Aureal, who might be hidden in the shadows. "It's unfortunate that the Wellspring of Mazken ensures your immortality, dog." She kicked him to the dirt ruthlessly. "However, it pleases me to know that you will soon drown and suffer within the depths of Oblivion for what will feel like an eternity, before the chimes can call you home." She launched Xalo's dagger directly into the center of his throat, severing his larynx in the process and producing a beautiful fountain of daedric blood, which doused Vicca’s scantily clad traditional Mazken armour. After licking her shiny black lips clean of his life-essence, she laughed to herself and shook her head at the male’s utter incompetence.

It is not a crime for female Mazken to slay males within their ranks if they hold a superior rank than the male and they deem the action justified. Usually a simple explanation to a Sister of superior rank is all that is required, but sometimes the ruling Autkendo will decide the outcome in extreme matters. In this case, however, Vicca felt safe and sure that she had made the right call  and would suffer no repercussions for making it.

With Xalo out of the way, and now one guard short, Vicca had more territory to cover but this she didn’t mind. She was a more than capable Koskengo, with hundreds of Aureal kills under her belt, and an enemy soldier of any rank would assuredly have their work cut out for them. She began to walk west to cover her expanded area when she felt something fly by her head not once, not twice, but three times, all in an instant. Three amber throwing stars were now embedded within the ancient stone slab which stood ahead of Vicca. She turned around in a split-second and prepared to do battle with the enemy whom she had prayed to find. A so-called Golden Saint!
