This build is based on the Heavy class for Team Fortress 2.

Story: Born and raised in the east of the Wasteland, you were regarded for your above-average size and strength. Your physic eared you some cruel puns from the locals like your parents were mutants . . . which did not last long as they would soon see your short temper.

When you became an adult, you left for the west for a life of your liking. You found various shorts jobs that required your incredible strength, such as being a bodyguard, a bouncer of popular bars, and participating in fight clubs. You found your most favorite work as a member of a group of mercenaries who work to protect companies who were setting up businesses from dangerous inhabitants, such as wild animals, and raiders. You served as the group's muscle with minigun earning you the nickname 'Heavy'.
The only member of the mercenaries that considered a friend was a man who's role was the group's medic, who healed to prove his ability to save those from death, and once used a bone-saw on a raider.

You would have been in the group for life had the leader and several members did not get into a heated argument, forcing the group to break up with everyone going their way. Now jobless, you went further west, taking short jobs that became scarce. Out of desperation for caps, you sold your beloved minigun, Sasha. You ended finding work as a courier for the Mojave Express. While maybe delivery wasn't suitable for a giant like you, it paid well and you had no trouble . . . until you were shot in the head by a fancy suit-wearing baby-man.

Traits: Skilled, Heavy Handed, Kamikaze, Fast Shot, and/or Hot Blooded

Tag Skills: Guns, Unarmed, Repair

Major Skills: Guns, Unarmed, Repair

Minor Skills: Melee Weapons, Medicine, Barter

Perks: Shotgun Surgeon, Stonewall, Piercing Strike, Toughness in both ranks, Hand Loader, Unstoppable Force.

DLC Perks: Junk Rounds and And Stay Back

Equipment:

For looks, the merc troublemaker outfit looks good because of its ammo belts.  If you don't care for looks, then any heavy armor of your choice. Power armor - especially the T-45d - is okay.

A shotgun (the riot is my favorite)

An unarmed weapon. The ballistic fist is best if you want extreme devastation.

A minigun. If you want to use a Gatling laser instead, add points in Energy Weapons.

Implants: Sub-Dermal Armor, Monocyte Breeder, Strength, Endurance, Perception, Agility, Charisma, and Intelligence.

Companions: While you can handle any fight on your own,  it wouldn't hurt having friends to help take out other enemies and serve as a distraction.  Veronica and Rex are perfect for close quarter enemies, while Boone and ED-E are good for ranged enemies.

Factions: Either the NCR or Legion so you can show you are a giant killing machine.

Quests: Focus on quests where you kill, and Kill, and KILL! Feel free to visit The Thorn often.

Gameplay: When using your main weapon, the minigun, it's best used when dealing with multiple enemies, shooting while backpedaling so they will not surround you and file them in lines, making it easier to kill them one at a time. The shotgun and unarmed are for when you're fighting few enemies, conserve minigun ammo, and/or you feel gutsy.
