WIP Character Builds

We understand making a great character build that others actually want to play is difficult. And while some are comfortable working on their build in private and releasing it when complete, others may desperately need a lot of guiddance along the way. Whats where this section comes in.

In this section you may post any half finished rough draft build your working if you're in need of guidance or just want a place for people to evaluate your work as you work on it. Here are some helpful guidelines to remember

-Ensure you include the term "WIP Build" to your title so it can be more readily distinguisable from completed character builds. Example - WIP Build: The Sneak Archer

-For those posting their WIPs here, please be open to constructive criticism. You wouldnt be posting your work here if you thought it was perfect to begin with, so please make an honest effort to take in criticism.

-For those commenting, dont be an ass. It takes a bit of courage to share ones own creative ideas, so dont ruin it by trying to bring people down. Be mindful of how you critique. Focus on being constructive

-When your build is complete, feel free to move it yourself or let me or an admin know and we'll move it over to where the completed builds reside.

WIP Event Build - The Evening Wolf (Modded)

I have just started Egill's journey, so there will probably be many changes.  :)

PROLOGUE:

Egill Skallagrimsson had once again come back empty handed, as his traps scattered around proved useless, not unusual for the cursed land of Solstheim. Still, it weighed heavily on his shoulders that he could not provide meat for him and his cousins.  It had been rough going since Egill was kicked out from his close-knit Skaal village for killing that cheat Owain during a card game. Cheating was inexcusable to Egill's core values, but the tiny village, afraid of Egill's terrible temper, had thought otherwise and banned him from the hamlet. His cousins Agnatha and Ollowain, had chosen to leave with him, and the trio had made a makeshift camp outside Raven Rock. Fish were plentiful, but the citizens of Raven Rock had made it clear that they were outsiders, and you could make little off the trade of fish and the pearls you found from clams.

Anger bubbled inside of him, but he knelt down to pray to Kyne and felt the resentment ease. Egill had found a shrine of Kyne shortly after the three had built their new camp. Kyne had spoken to him, telling him to be Kyne's champion and receive the Voice of the Sky. He was unsure what that meant, but the yearning to follow her vision was ever in his thoughts.

After leaving Kyne's shrine, he noticed two unfamiliar men standing around close to the campsite. When they saw him, they attacked, unprovoked, and Egill rushed to attack with the only weapon he had, a pickaxe the blacksmith had given him, as his old, beloved weapons had been surrendered during the banishment. Egill's bold response caught the intruders off guard, and it didn't a minute to end these ruffians' lives. Two reavers, one with a bow and arrows, another with an axe, all armored, and Egill sifted through their spoils eagerly.

Wait, what was this?  A third man's body, dressed in robes, with a satchel. Egill knew he could lose his composure during battle, the word "berserker" often whispered among his former tribe. But the man's body was cool, Egill had no part in his death. He rifled the man's belongings, and found instructions and supplies for jewelry making. The journal bore the name of Hugin Ice-Shaper.

Egill was not a stranger to Smithing, although he had little to work with to improve his natural ability. With a nod from blacksmith Mallory, and a quick prayer to his goddess, Egill was able to shape 3 pieces of jewelry over the forge from the dead man's supplies:  a ring, an amulet, and a circlet. All had special powers.

The voice of Kyne invaded his mind:  "I've given you these items, and now you need to travel to the land of Skyrim and help defend it. You are needed to be my champion, and meet your destiny. Get on the ship, cross the sea, and I will meet you in the land of Skyrim."

That night, Egill looked across the vast ocean. He had said a quick goodbye to his family, bidding them to return to their former home. He had prayed again at the shrine, leaving an amethyst as a gift. And he had emptied his pockets to pay the ship captain's fare. He knew nothing of Skyrim, yet he wore his gifts from Kyne proudly, and eagerly anticipated what the next chapter of his life would bring.

The Evening Wolf is based on Egill Skallagrimsson, an Icelandic war poet and berserker.  I chose to make him a werewolf, dragon killer, and a generally good guy, if you forgive the bad temper.  He has shamanic tendencies as well, and curses his opponents.  You can find more about Egil here:  Egill

ORIGIN OF THE EVENING WOLF;

Egill is a fierce warrior who gleefully engages in combat, usually with a two-handed axe.  He was exiled from his village in Solstheim for the murder of a clansman.  There were rumors of shape-shifting within his family, something he will embrace with the Companions.  A Viking at heart, he kills, he plunders, and then writes an ode about it at his campside.  He learns to embrace Shamanism and lays cursed runes on his enemies.  He's a devoted follower of Kyne, and later, Hircine.  He has left Solstheim at Kyne's bequest to journey to Skyrim.

REQUIRED MODS:

I used the Wabbajack setup of

PRIMARY:

SECONDARY:

OPTIONAL:

BUILD:

RACE:  I chose Nord because it fits the lore best, but an Orc with their bloodlust would certainly work very well.  My third choice would be Redguard, for their combat abilites and passives.

CLASS ARCHETYPE:  Berserker +shaman.  I roleplay a bit of bard as well.  Egill was known for his temper and fighting ability.  He cursed his enemies resulting in death so that's a welcome addition to the gameplay.

STONE:  Warrior and Mage for early leveling, also Lady and Steed

SHOUTS:  TBD

STAT DISTRIBUTION:  He will need magicka for his restoration and destruction spells from Triumvirate and Forgotten Magic in order to curse his enemies.  I'm planning on 1M/2H/2-3ST.  Subject to change as I play.

SKILL DISTRIBUTION: Major:  Two-Handed (axe), Light Armor, Restoration, Block  Minor:  Smithing, Destruction, One-Hand, Speech

If not transformed, Egill will rely on his favorite axe (two-hand).  He wears light armor, he's never adapted to heavy.  He will mainly advance in smithing to improve his weapons.  While he specializes in his axe, with his one-handed skill he uses any good weapon, often enchanted, in his fights.

DEITY:  Kynareth (Kyne), possibly replaced by Hircine

EQUIPMENT:  At early levels, whatever light armor you can forge or loot.  He will craft axes of iron and steel.  At later levels. . .

QUESTS:

THE COMPANIONS--Egill will finally find new brothers and sisters, after his exile.

THE CIVIL WAR--Egill will fight for the Stormcloaks, but he doesn't really recognize Ulfric as a king.  He generally has vendettas against leaders in charge.

COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD--Egill will attend for awhile, to advance his magic skills but a college dorm is not for him.

MAIN QUEST--an important part of Egill's journey is receiving the voice.  Fighting Dragons are a nice bonus.

ANY QUEST involving the killing of a worthy, unusual opponent, like the Ebony Warrior or Kaarstag.  They test the Evening Wolf's limits and make him a better warrior.

BARD'S COLLEGE:  Egill has a soft side after all.  He loves bards and will occasionally join in at inns.

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTS:  Never one to shy from danger, Egill will ask for bounty quests.
