Blessings of the Madgod - Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Now that Aalynn had made her way into the Underkeep of Cylarne, she felt overwhelmed with eagerness to begin the carnage. She looked inside her mind and knew at once that now was her time to strike the brutish and unsuspecting Mazken, lest her people become completely erased from existence. With a shadowy grace, she snuck down the time-worn hallways, admiring the awe-inspiring statues of the Madgod himself and his beloved creatures which populated the Shivering Isles. These totems of tribute were carved by Aureal and Mazken of ages past, and when Aalynn looked upon them she could feel in her heart that He, Sheogorath, would soon see the Aureal as they are: His most loyal children and the most true expression of His might.

How could He not see that the malicious Mazken were little more than monsters? Within Aalynn’s mind they were unworthy of His love. How could He love those who would tempt and seduce mortals and daedra-alike toward pain and sorrow? These very questions would infuriate Aalynn and lead her spiraling downwards toward her own Realm of Madness. Fortunately for her psyche, she was taught to remember and meditate upon the Three Aurealan Tenants in times such as these. She closed her eyes and spoke the sacred word within herself, with hopes of deafening her rambling tangents.

“Trust in the will and whim of our Lord. Defend and protect His realm against all lesser beings. Embody the righteous aspect of Mania and rule His realm with a golden fist. Praise in His name, Sheogorath.”

After a moment of silence, Aalynn rose from prayer and turned herself toward the abyss that lurked before her. She snuck down the battle-worn hallways with her back to the walls, paying close attention to her peripherals. Her cat-like eyes widened and dilated in the dark, darting left and right with hopes of spotting any patrolling Seducers who might be using Chameleon spells, which they were notorious for using. To Aalynn’s bloodthirsty delight, there were many Seducers to be found and were easily spotted by the torches which they carried.

She crept silently in the dark, not unlike the vicious Hunger species native to the Isles, and pounced upon her unsuspecting prey in a series of manic frenzies. With her beloved golden dagger held tightly within her hand, she systematically stabbed the exposed necks of each Dark Seducer who protected the shadowy domain. Aalynn dragged each Mazken, one-by-one, and hid them behind the weathered brick walls, as to maintain her precious secrecy. Once again she praised the Madgod for her success, and continued onward toward the western hallway.

As she came to the end of the hallway, she could hear a commander talking down to one of her male Mazken guards on the western side, who seemed to have injured himself and was now crying pitifully on the ground. “How embarrassing!” Aalynn thought to herself. She had to hold her hand over mouth to stop herself from laughing hysterically. Disasters such as these weren’t at all uncommon for Mazken or even Aureal, as males were known to be less than capable guards and soldiers, and were usually only put to work when times were desperate. However, she could tell that this commander was excessively angry this time, and so she assumed the worst for the unfortunate male.

Aalynn reluctantly waited for the petty squabbles of her Mazken prey to come to an end. Much to her pleasant surprise, the commander didn’t choose to end the confrontation diplomatically. Rather, she chose instead to do Aalynn’s job for her. She executed the male daedra immediately, with a swift throw of a bloody dagger into his quivering throat, after kicking him to the floor. Aalynn’s eyes widened at the sight of the gruesome display of violence. As much as she wanted to look away, she couldn’t help but stare in magnificence. The male’s head slumped to his left side and his neck began to pool a massive amount of blood, now gushing and sputtering upon the floor. The Mazken commander towered above his now lifeless body, and chuckled while shaking her head slowly in disbelief.

Aalynn chose this moment to creep to the back of the room where she hid herself behind a crumbled pillar. Appearing to possibly be one of the final Seducers within the Underkeep, Aalynn decided it would be best for her to strike when the commander stopped moving. However, to her dismay, the commander chose to head west down the hall instead of standing still. Without a moment to lose, Aalynn grabbed three amber throwing stars from her inventory and hastily but carefully threw them directly towards the Mazken commander’s neck. She believed herself to be incapable of missing, as she could feel the Madgod’s blessing ravishing her without a doubt.

Perhaps she really did feel his presence, but one must remember that not all blessings are permanent. Although each amber throwing star was lined up and thrown with impeccable precision, each star took a surprising curve and missed the Mazken by mere finger widths. The Mazken commander felt the wind of the weapons fly by her head, and turned around in a startled rage with her teeth showing and her lips now snarled. With her furrowed brow now hiding her eyes, she raised her head high and roared “E’tah Mazken!” Now was the time for battle!
