Backstory (Skyrim-ized)
Long before the current jarls squabbled over holds, there lived a Nord warlord remembered only in fragments of song—Erik Bloodaxe, a kinslayer who carved his legend across Skyrim’s northern coasts. He never sat an uncontested throne, but he claimed kingship through strength alone, as was the old way. His rule was short. His enemies were many. And when he died, it was said even Sovngarde did not welcome him easily, for his blood-debt was too great. His soul did not rest. Centuries later, a desperate necromancer, digging through barrows older than most holds, uncovered traces of Erik’s spirit—still raging, still unbroken. Seeking to bind a king as a servant, the mage performed a forbidden ritual. It failed. Erik’s soul, too strong to be controlled, shattered the binding—destroying the necromancer and escaping into the currents between life and death. But he was not whole. Not yet. He needed a body. A warrior’s body. At Helgen, as fate—or perhaps Kyne’s cruel humor—would have it, a prisoner stood on the brink of death as a dragon descended from the sky. A perfect vessel. Erik did not “possess” the body like a puppet. Instead: He merged with it—two souls in one flesh. Now, as the Dragonborn awakens, something is… different. Not just dragon blood. But a king’s hunger for conquest, whispering beneath every choice.
Some whisper Kyne abandoned him. Others say Boethiah, Malacath, or Molag Bal watches with interest.

Gameplay and Roleplay
Erik’s “Voice” Pushes You Toward:
Violence over diplomacy
Power over morality
Glory over safety
Domination over cooperation
You Decide When He Wins
You can literally “play out” internal conflict:
- Spare an enemy? → You resisted Erik
- Slaughter a surrendering foe? → Erik took the reins
Join a faction for power? → Erik approves
Give yourself a mechanic:
- After big moments (boss fights, shouts, dragon kills), ask:
- “Does Erik grow stronger here?
- Flip a coin / use a % rule early on
- Later, Erik gains more control (you choose harsher options more often)
Roleplay Integration
- Early game → no conjuration (he’s too weak)
- Mid game → can raise the dead after major battles
- Late game → commands the fallen more freely
Avoid:
- Atronachs (feels too mage-like)
- Constant summoning spam
- Robes-heavy playstyle
Erik Awakens:
Early Game:
- Erik is weak, just whispers
- You still act mostly as your character
Mid Game:
- After absorbing dragon souls → Erik’s influence grows
- You start making more ruthless choices
Late Game:
- Erik is nearly reborn
- You act openly as a warlord king
Erik becomes part of what makes the Dragonborn dangerous.
- Dragon souls
- Ancient spirits
- Identity blur between power and self
Factions & Questlines:
- Companions
- Stormcloaks
- College of Winterhold (optional)
Avoid:
- Thieves Guild
- Dark Brotherhood
Daedric Princes to Pay Attention to:
- Hircine (Beast Form)
- Molag Bal (Vampirism)
- Boethiah
- Malacath
- Hermaeus Mora
