Corvus Rem: Chapter 2 - Act II

As nightfall comes, Corvus travels to the north of Lake Rumare, overlooking the Imperial City. He finds a small boat at a small dock and uses it to row to the secret sewer exit. He docks the boat and pull it further to the shore and finds the sewer exit locked by a metal door. He approaches the gate and pulls out the set of keys provided by the map merchant from Bravil and uses it to open the gate. As he enters, he grabs a wooden torch and uses a flame scroll to ignite it. He raises the torch and proceeds deeper into the sewer. He trudges through the sewage water and takes several and enters through another gate that led further into the sewer. He finds himself a long hallway with more sewage water and continues pushes onward before making a left turn another set of metal doors that leads to the sewers under the market district. He looks over at some broken wooden barrels and pulls the Akaviri Sunderblade off from his back with its sheathe and places it inside one of the broken barrels. He then proceeds through the door and continues onward as he takes more turns around the sewer. As he continues scouting, he passes by the manhole leading out to the market district but continues to explore. He comes across another long hallway with sewage water and follows it to the other end. He then notices a hallway on the right and walks towards it, only to see it leads to another room with no door. He decides to put the Bow of Infernal Frost and the magical arrows into a small inconspicuous corner. He retraces his steps back to the manhole and exit to the market district.

The Imperial City is filled with noises and celebration. The streets of Imperial City are crowded with countless people as they await the High Chancellor to pass from the Talos Plaza District to the Arboretum to the Elven Gardens District. The gate to the bridge opens at the Talos Plaza and five figures comes through. The crowd cheers on as they see the High Chancellor Ghisiliane Caemaire walks through the street with her elite escorts of Penitus Oculatus bodyguards. Many residents are completely in awe of her elven beauty, despite the being around 150 years old, and she wears long elegant red colored dress. As she passes by, Ghisiliane nods and smiles to many people and finding many people being enraptured by her presence. Amongst her bodyguard is a Redguard wearing the signature Hammerfel hood with scimitar sheathed by his side. An unusual case, as Penitus Oculatus is mostly Imperial members only. The chancellor passes through the last district, that of the Elvens Gardens district before she stops and approaches an Imperial General and an older Breton in noble’s clothing. She then follows them to the Imperial Palace. As they approach the tower, she instructs her bodyguards except for her Redguard escort to wait outside before going in with the general and the Breton. They enter the elder council chamber and approaches the large white table at the center.

“Good evening General Vontan. Sorais. How are you finding the festivities?” Ghisiliane cordially asked.

“First off, I want to thank you for seeing me and General Vontan. We have a matter to discuss with you.”

“Please, gentlemen,” as she gestures them to sit at the chairs circling around council chairs and she sits down as well.

“High Chancellor, I have led the attack on Shimmerene with you and you know I will always follow your lead. However, I’m not sure if that was the right thing to do.”

“You followed my lead, General. Why are you questioning my decision now?” she responded in a firm tone.

“Many council members are not happy with your choice, High Chancellor,” the council member interjected. The attack on Shimmerene was a massive blow to the Dominion, but in the process many innocents were killed. There were women, children, anyone who are not with the Dominion…”

“I did what needed to be done. It was the only way to cripple the Dominion, as we have destroyed one of the major strongholds in Summerset Isles. It was…the necessary evil.”

            “Yes, High Chancellor.”

“Now we will speak no more of this. Enjoy your evening gentlemen,” she smiled and gestured them to exit. The council member and the general stand up and leaves the council chamber. Ghisiliane and her bodyguard follows shortly afterwards and walks to the second floor through a doorway at the end of the palace hall. She stops and turns to her bodyguard.

“Why don’t you enjoy yourself and mingle at the festivities, while I go freshen up my makeup in my chamber.”

“Yes, High Chancellor,” the bodyguard responded and leaves her.

“Oh Javajj…what would I do without you?” she muttered to herself. She then continues to walk through the palace hall alone as she is greeted by the palace guards. After a walking in the hallway for a long while, she arrives at her personal chamber. Her chamber was elegantly decorated with carpets and bed all in the style of Summerset Isle and various gears of befitting a battlemage such as potions and staves. In the bedchamber, her bed was made of traditional Cyrodiilic design and even has a small elven decorated bathtub in the corner of the room. She approaches the table with a mirror next the bathtub. She looks at the mirror checks her twin bung on her hair. She then checks her eyeliner and picks up a lipstick. As she begins to apply the lipstick on her lip, she stops and freezes. In the mirror’s reflection, a dark figure stands in the corner of the bed chamber and slowly steps out of the shadow. Terror slowly overtakes Ghisiliane but barely musters enough strength to maintain her composure.

“Corvus,” she said with a slight tremble in her voice.

“Ghisiliane,” he responded as he completely steps out of the shadow, and she turns around to face him.

“There was time, not long ago, that I would consider you and I…dare I say…friends.”

“I still do,” he responded with a slight hint of somberness in his tone. As he slowly walks towards her, she sees the Blade of Woe in his right hand.

“Yet here you are, Sithis’ mortal incarnate. Tell me, what brought you back after all these years?”

            “A marker.”

            “And who is the bearer?”

“Your brother.” Upon hearing those words, she looks away for a moment and closes her eyes with deep sorrow. “This marker…is this how you left your shadowy organization?” Corvus nods slightly to affirm her deduction. “You left for a woman, didn’t you? The very same woman, whose life that will end mine. What was her name?”

“Haki,” he responded with still some semblance of grief in his voice.

“Haki…this Haki, was she worth the price that you’re now paying?” she asked. He nods once again. Knowing that he has no intention of going back on his oath, she approaches him, “I will tell what will happen after I die. Aerandil will seize the position of High Chancellor. The Elder Council will not know he is with the Aldmeri Dominion until it’s too late. The Dominion will easily take over the empire and one step closer in taking over all of Tamriel. And he will start with Skyrim. This will be all possible…because of you.” She then walks to her bathtub and slowly undresses herself. She gently takes off her red dress and steps into the tub and quickly turns her wrist to heat the bathwater. She unties her twin buns, revealing her long hair, and turns her head looking over her shoulder at Corvus. “What would Haki think about that? What would she think about you?” as she raises her right hand with a spell emanating with a red glow. She then clenches right hand and swirl of red magic courses through her body. Then she raises her left hand with the same magic and clenches it as well. After she does so, blood begins to flow out of her body and slowly turn the bath water in red.

“Why?” Corvus asked with visible confusion. Ghisiliane turns to him, with both arms covering her breasts.

“Because I chose how I would live my life. And will choose how I will die.” She then slowly lies down in her bathtub as more water runs red with her blood. “Do you fear damnation, Corvus?”

            “I do.”

“Funny, here I thought you are a devout follower of the Dread Father. As for me…I thought I could avoid it. If not…at least trying to redeem myself. Without seeing you,” Ghisiliane uttered softly. Corvus walks next to her at the bathtub and crouches besides her. He reaches with his right hand and holds to her right hand. She turns her and looks at him, not as the Dread Father, but a man, a friend. She loses consciousness and her grip on his hand weakens before Corvus pulls out his Blade of Woe and makes a swift slit on her throat. He slowly stands up and leaves the bedchamber before casting an invisibility spell.

Sneaking past the imperial guards in the palace is no trifle for him, as he snuck through the long hallways effortlessly. He reaches to the door palace entrance and sneaks out with barely any guards around. He then walks a corner and lets his invisibility wears off before standing and blends in with the crowds. He walks down a stairway and the path that leads the Talos Plaza District. Just as he is about to enter through the gateway, he stops dead on the track as he hears a voice that just called out to him.

“Corvus.” He slowly turns around and sees the man who called his name. The Redguard Penitus Oculatus bodyguard, who is standing 2 feet away from him.

            “Javajj.” Corvus greeted him back.

            “You working?”

            “Yeah, you?”

            “Yeah. Good night?”

“Unfortunately.” Corvus responded with some unease in his voice.

“I’m sorry to hear that.” Javajj responded with the same unease. The two men stared at each other, with their hands ready to reach their blades. In a split-second motion, both men drew their weapons and slashes each other in the chest and fall to the ground. Corvus barely gets up and makes a run to the door.

“Stop him!” Javajj yells as three other Penitus Oculatus runs to him and helps him get up. “Stop the assassin!” he repeated and the three chases after Corvus while Javajj runs to the Imperial Palace. Corvus runs through the Talos Plaza District and makes a right towards the gateway leading to the Elven Gardens District. As he pushes through the gate, he runs to an alleyway to lose the pursuers. The hope is short lived as he runs into a group of more Penitus Oculatus. The guards quickly draw their weapons and runs towards Corvus, but he quickly slashes one in the head and throws a throwing knife to another one. The slaughter quickly causes panic to the residents of the Imperial City as they begin to scream and panic. Corvus uses his blade to dispatch three more guards in quick succession. Just as he gets onto the main streets, Imperial guards joins in the hunt as another Penitus Oculatus shouted orders to chase down Corvus. One guard swings his sword at Corvus, but he dodges and slashes the guard at his shin and stabs him in the exposed neck. An arrow flies by Corvus, barely missing him, and he retaliates with a draining health that instantly kills the archer. Corvus runs to the gateway leading to the market district and throws 4 throwing knives at 4 incoming guards. As he runs to the shopping area and kills 3 more Penitus Oculatus, he sees “The Best Defense” shop and kicks the door open. He runs into the shop and runs to the basement and sees the sewer grate leading to the sewer. He looks behind him to see if there are any guards running into the shop, but he jumps down when no one came.

Javajj breathes heavily as runs through the long hallway of the Imperial Palace and passes by the patrolling guards. It feels like ages forever to get to the higher level of the palace, even when he is running. He finally reaches to the highest level and goes toward the High Chancellor’s chamber. He runs for the bedchamber when he did not see Ghisiliane and stops when he sees her in the bathtub, filled with blood. As he stares at her lifeless body, his bloodlust and vengeance is slowly building up under that tough exterior.

Corvus jumps down to the sewers and drinks a potion that restores his strength. He sighs as his strength is restored and proceeds to leave through the sewer. Trekking through the sewer is not something he is looking forward to, but he must remain undetected for the remainder of the night. He walks through the foul stench water and finds himself back in the same long hallway. As he turns right prepares to walk to corridor that leads to the northern tunnel, a figure steps out of the shadow at the end of the hallway. Corvus immediately recognizes who it is. The same bosmer woman who accompanied Aerandil and was at his residence when she checked him and had her way with him. Aerandil would not want to keep an eye on Corvus to ensure he is safe, knowing full well on how capable he is. Corvus already knew why she is here.

“Loose ends?” he asked. The bosmer did not utter a word, only nods gestures by raising her index finger and from the looks of it, he knows what she is saying, “Just one.” “Yeah…” Corvus responded with no surprise. Suddenly, several Thalmor soldiers ambushes him and Corvus swiftly defends himself. He was forced to retreat and runs back to the long hall. As he ran, soldiers shoot arrows at him while Corvus dispatches more of them as they were placed down the sewage hall as well. Corvus turns makes a right to another hallway that he has previously explored and grabs the Bow of Infernal Frost and the magical quivers at the corner he placed at earlier and begins unleashing a barrage of arrows at 3 pursuing soldiers. He makes his way back to the long hallway and retraces his step back to the hallway that leads to the exit. More soldiers begin appearing, but he shoots with deadly precision with each arrows creating an explosion of fire and ice shards. One soldier jumps out of the corner to attack, but Corvus counters it and uses his leg to immobilize the soldier, causing them to fall. He continues to fire arrows at more 2 more soldiers while laying on the ground before getting up and putting an arrow at the pinned soldier. He makes his way back to the small hall where he saw the bosmer and continue to lay waste as more soldiers came rushing down on him. As he closes in on a gateway, he pulls out his blade and counters two soldiers coming at him with swords and swiftly cuts them down before sheathing it and switching back to the bow. He fires 2 more arrows at a soldier and enters through the gate. He runs to another room in the northern tunnel and looses one arrow at 2 incoming soldiers. As he reaches for his quiver, Corvus felt no arrows touching his hand and uses his bow itself to counter the soldier’s attack and quickly using his blade to jam it to his skull. He then puts the bow on his back and reaches to the broken barrels he came by earlier and picks up the Akaviri Sunderblade. He unsheathes the katan and slays three more that just enters the room, cutting their armors like butter. He then finds himself in the northern tunnel hallway and as he walks down the hallway, another soldier attacks and he block it with the katana and counters and beheads the soldier. 4 more soldiers appear, and he takes them head on. He manages to kill two, but one slashes him in the back, and he counters the soldier and cuts one arm off before beheading the last one. He then stands up and looks around before for more soldiers before making a run for the exit.  A few minutes later, the bosmer woman follows the trails of body left behind by Corvus but was too late to catch up.

Corvus rides back to Cheydinhal, knowing he has fulfilled his marker. Yet at the same time, he was betrayed. He knew Aerandil will not stop here. After about an hour ride, finally arrives to Cheydinhal and circles around to the back of the city. Once he does, he slows down his horse and walks for the rest of the way to enjoy the peace. Unfortunately, it was cut short when arrow hits a nearby tree, causing the horse to buck him off. As he recovers, two more arrows fly by his head, and he rolls for cover. He looks up sees the assailant near another tree. It was none other than Ghisiliane’s bodyguard, who tracked him all the way from the Imperial City.

“Not a good night after all, Corvus!” Javajj shouted. Javajj continues to fire arrows at Corvus as he runs and dodges all of them. He then uses a large group of bushes as cover and as Javajj approaches, he jumps out and disarms the bow. He then quickly resorts to hand-to-hand fight with Corvus. The two men begin trading blows at each other, with Javajj having the upper hand, but Corvus manages to counter his kick and tosses him over. He then attempts to run to the Shadow Continental, but Javajj catches up and tackles Corvus. The two men quickly resume fighting and gradually move right at the entrance of the old fort. Once again, Javajj quickly gains the upper hand as by using his leg to pin Corvus onto the ground. Corvus struggles to break free as Javajj pulls out a backup dagger from his pocket and attempts to stab him. Corvus retaliates by pulling out his Blade of Woe, but Javajj counters his every single attack with his dagger while still using his leg to pin Corvus on the ground. After the continuous ground wrestle, Corvus disarms Javajj once again, but quickly finds himself back on the ground being strangled Javajj and drops his blade. As Javajj attempts to choke him, Corvus struggles to reach his blade that is next to him. Javajj attempts to kick it away, but Corvus manages to reach it first and uses to break Javajj’s hold on him. As he stands back up, Javajj grabs Corvus and drags him to the entrance door breaks right through. The two men fell to the ground with their hands still grabbing each other’s arms, with Corvus having his blade right at Javajj’s throat. As Corvus attempts to deliver the killing blow, a voice call to them.

“Gentlemen.” The two men look up and see three securities with their weapons drawn and a few feet away, Jirolin walks towards them. “Must I remind you that this is neutral ground. No ‘businesses’ in the Shadow Continental.”

“No sir.” Javajj still panting from the fight.

“No sir.” Corvus responded as well, catching his breath.

“Good. Well then, why don’t you two take a drink at the bar, to calm yourselves.” Jirolin suggested as he gestured towards down the hallway. Corvus nods and looks at Javajj.

“Gin isn’t it?” he asked.

“Yeah. Bourbon…correct?”

“Yeah…” Corvus nods in response. He then struggles to walk down the hallway and Javajj soon follows, both passing by Jirolin. The two approaches the dining area and sits at the bartender’s table.

“Cyrodiilic Brandy for me.” Corvus raised his hand to the bartender.

“Gin for me.” Javajj followed afterward. The bartender shortly returns with two cups filled with the men’s drinks. Both men thank the bartender and Corvus takes a sip from his cup. He then puts the cup down for a moment and turns to Javajj.

“I had a marker.”

“Whose?” he responded without looking at him.

“Her brother.”

“I see. You had no choice,” Javajj responded as he takes a sip from his cup of gin.

“He wants to infiltrate and seize the position of the High Chancellor,” as Corvus drinks from his cup.

“No doubt he’ll get it now. And the Thalmor will seize the White Gold Tower and Cyrodiil as a whole.”

“Yeah…I know” Corvus responded with slight remorse, knowing he may have possibly had a hand in the fate of Tamriel.

“And now you’re free.”

“Am I?” as he turned to Javajj. The bodyguard looks at him cold dead eyes and shook his head.

“No…not even close.” Javajj responded coldly. “You killed my ward…my friend. Someone I was close to. An eye for an eye Corvus. You understand.”

“Yeah.” Both men drink from their cup.

“But when the time comes, I’ll make it quick. You have my word.”

“I appreciate that. I’ll try do the same.” Corvus responded in a rather sincere tone. Javajj then stands up and reaches for his pocket.”

“Rounds on me,” as he drops a small pouch of 50 septims on the counter. “Consider this a professional courtesy.” Javajj leaves and Corvus silently raises his glass before finishing his drink. He sighs to reflect the ordeal he had unwittingly created for himself and Javajj. He then turns around looks over at one of the tables in the dining area. The same bosmer woman is sitting alone looking at Corvus and starts making sign languages.

Bad night for you? I can buy you a drink as well.” She gestured with her fingers.

“No thanks,” Corvus responded and proceeds to stand up and leave, but the bosmer raises her hands once again.

Not him…me. Be seeing you. Corvus Rem.”

Not if I see you first.” Corvus responded using sign language as well and leaves. The bosmer sighs with disappointment from the lack of same respect that Corvus had for Javajj. Corvus returns to his room and sits on his bed. He takes out Haki’s necklace from his pocket, something he had it on him when his house burned down. However, the necklace was punctured with the jewel in the center completely shattered. He grieves for a moment, for another lost memento of his late wife, as the rest were destroyed along with his house. Anger soon replaces grief, as Aerandil had destroyed another memento of his wife.

“He’s alive.” Aerandil muttered.

“We don’t know that for sure.” a dominion messenger protested. “You sent a contingent of soldiers to the Imperial City led by Malfnir. I’m sure…”

“She failed. I know… he survived.”

“So, what is your plan?” The messenger asked. Aerandil stood silent behind his desk for a moment. Deep down, he is filled with fear as he is considering what he is about to do. He then pulls out a paper and uses a quill and wrote something on it. He then stamps his letter and rolls the letter.

“Here. Take this to our headquarter in Alinor. Tell the them that I’m opening a bounty contract on Corvus Rem. The contract is open in Skyrim and the reward is 25000 gold.”

“Yes sir.” The messenger takes the letter and creates an instant portal that teleports him to Alinor’s headquarter. The headquarter is brimming with Thalmors soldiers and justiciars. The messenger approaches a female Thalmor mage. “I have orders from Aerandil Caemaire.” As the messenger hands the letter. The mage opens reads the letter and calls out to two other mages.

“Start creating bounty posters on a Corvus Rem for Skyrim. Reward is 25000 gold.” One mage quickly writes the description of the bounty while the other one casts a quick scrying spell while pressing his fingers on the bounty letter. A few second later, a picture of a face forms on the bounty poster, that of Corvus Rem. The two mages then cast a spell on the poster, causing it to duplicate into a hundred copies. The mages grab the copies and approaches to several messengers, some of which are bosmers, and altmers.

“Go to Skyrim. Put these posters in every major city. Taverns, villages, roadsides. Aerandil wants all possible bounty hunters and assassins to get it.” The mages ordered. The messengers take the posters and quickly teleports to Skyrim and begin posting the bounty in every major hold in Skyrim. They post posters in all possible public places where the bounty posters can be quickly seen. After the a few hours has passed, posters are being taken by bounty hunters, freelance assassins, and mercenaries.

Aerandil still sits in the office while ruminating on what he just did. Malfnir comes into his office and Aerandil looks up.

Sorry. I failed,” as the bosmer communicated through sign language. Aerandil remains unsurprised. “You also have a guest,” the bosmer gestured again before leaving the office. Once she leaves, the guest enters and its non-other than Brynjolf.

“I presume you are part of your little shadowy organization. To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Its about the marker that a certain someone owe you.”

“Ah yes…my service to the dominion keeps occupied, so much so that I’ve almost forgot about this…trivial metal,” Aerandil remarked. Brynjolf did not respond and pulls out a ledger from his pocket. He opens it and places it on the desk, revealing an archive of completed markers with thumbprints imprinted in blood beside each entry.

“What’s this?”

“He completed the task that you set him out to do. The marker is over. Mark it.”

“If Corvus is not dead by now, he soon will be.” Aerandil cockily said as he leaned back on his chair.

“Will you mark it?” Brynjolf insisted. After a moment of hesitation, Aerandil reached for his pocket and pulled out his marker. He opens it and a small pin emerges on top of it. He takes off his right-hand gloves and presses his thumb on the pin, causing small amounts of blood coming out. He then presses his bleeding thumb on the other side of the marker opposite of Corvus’.

“You have no idea what you’ve just unleashed, do you?” Brynjolf casually asked.

“I have placed a price so high that everyone wants to get him. I doubt you will see him again. And soon, you will learn kneel before the might of the Aldmeri Dominion,” Aerandil arrogantly responded as he places his bloody thumb on an empty entry in the ledger.

“Really? You still think this is about the humans bowing to your whims and getting rid of anyone who defies you? You stabbed a daedric lord in the back. You forced him back into the life that he left. You destroyed the temple of the divine, burned it to the ground. Now that he is free of the marker, what do you think he will do next? He achieved the life of peace and embraced it, but you took that away from him.”

“He was already back.”

“He did not come back for you, he came back for love,” Brynjolf rebutted, causing Aerandil to stand from his chair.

“He owed me. I had every right!”

“You did. And now, he is coming for you. He will come and hunt you, even to the edge of Oblivion if he must. He told you not to do this,” Brynjolf then picks up the ledger from the desk. “He did warn you,” he said with a deathly serious tone and leaves without bidding farewell to the Thalmor.

Corvus returns to Skyrim in about a day after bidding farewell to Jirolin. He arrives at Riverwood to resupply for his travel and proceeds to go to the trader’s store. As he walks through the quiet village, he passes by a female blonde nord bard who is playing a lute. Suddenly, the bard pulls out a small knife and quickly slashes his back several times. Corvus barely recovers and attacks the bard, but she manages to slice through an exposed area on his cuirass and cuts his abdomen. The wound hardly slowed Corvus, as he quickly disarms the bard and pins her on the ground and uses his right hand to break her right hand. He then grabs her head from the chin and snaps her neck. Corvus stands up with his hand pressing against the wound he sustained and looted the bard. He finds a rolled-up paper and as he unfolds it, he sees his face and name on it with a reward of 25000 gold. He then drops it and quickly goes leaves Riverwood, deciding to skip the trader as the fight caused the villagers to lock behind their doors. He walks all the way to Whiterun, still staggering from his wound. He enters the city and decides to go to Arcadia’s Cauldron. As he is walking, he turns his head and sees a suspicious Breton dressed in leather armor following him. He walks into Arcadia’s Cauldron and staggers to the shopkeeper.

“Are you okay? Do you need…”

“Healing potion.” Corvus demanded and throws a small pouch of 25 gold.

“Of course,” the shopkeeper stammered and quickly pulls out a medium sized red bottle. Corvus takes it and immediately drinks it.

“Thanks,” as he exits the shop no longer staggering. As he leaves, he sees the same Breton waiting by the door. Corvus walks to the Bannered Mare, hoping he can lose the tailer. As he enters, there is no people in the tavern except for the innkeeper and another Breton in scale armor sitting at the barkeep. Suddenly, the Breton turns his head and looks at Corvus and he stops at the track. Corvus turns his head and sees the same Breton who has trailed him has entered as well. Realizing they are assassins as well, Corvus then rushes at the second Breton as he quickly pulls out a sword and disarms him and uses it to throw at the stalker. The second Breton grabs Corvus from the back, but he quickly uses a nearby spoon and jabs it at the Breton’s eye socket. He grabs the assassin’s head slams him on the barkeep table and uses the spoon to jams through his ear canal. The other assassin pulls the sword out of his chest, but Corvus pulls out the spoon from and rushes at the assassin before jamming it into his mouth and hits the spoon with full force, causing it to penetrate to the brain. Corvus stands up and quickly leaves the bloodied tavern as the innkeeper cowers in the corner. He soon leaves Whiterun and decides to go to Markarth.

Corvus exits through the front gate walks to the stable to fetch his horse. However, he was soon confronted by a huge orc in full orcish armor when he extends his right arm to knock Corvus onto the ground. Corvus quickly gets up as the orc reaches for his great sword, but Corvus manages to disarm the assassin. He then proceeds to unleash a flurry of punches at the orc’s chest, unfortunately with little effect. The orc recovers and rushes to grab him and throws him across a fence. Corvus got stunned by the throw and barely gets back up. Suddenly, the orc brandishes an ebony dagger at Corvus, but he manages to dodge the blade and disarms the orc once again and grabs the blade. The orc proceeds to rush at Corvus again, but this time he manages to grab the armored assassin and proceeds to shank the dagger at his side. Corvus quickly climbs onto the orc’s back removes his helmet and starts stabbing at his shoulder. He then delivers a final blow by penetrating the dagger in the orc’s head, causing him to drop to the ground. Corvus then loots assassin and finds some gold. As he proceeds to get onto his horse, Corvus hears the orc beginning to groan from his wound, somehow survived the stab to his head, but it is short lived as Corvus delivers a quick drain spell onto the orc, finally killing him.

After a few hours of riding, Corvus is close to arriving Markarth. He dismounts his horse away from the stable instead and finds himself in a large crowd of people going in and out of Markarth. He decides to blend in with the crowd, but his right hand is clutching at his newly acquired ebony dagger. Corvus looks around for potential assassins amongst the crowds. As he turns his head left to another crowd, he saw figure that stood out of the crowd. He finds himself staring at the same assassin who tried to kill him in Cyrodiil. Javajj. No longer wearing his Penitus Oculatus uniform, he is now wearing a redguard styled assassin armor, but without his hood. The two men stared at each other form the crowds for a moment before Corvus makes a run for the main gate. Javajj quickly gives chase, but briefly lost sight of Corvus in the city. Corvus attempts walk around the city and in an attempt to lose Javajj. He walks through Markarth’s main street and past the keep. Corvus attempts to lose him by going into hall of the dead through the backway. Unfortunately, he was unable to push the door and realizes he also cannot pick this door. As he is planning his next move, he looks over his shoulder and sees Javajj right behind him and 5 feet away. Realizing he is trapped, Corvus takes out his dagger as Javajj takes out his Alik’r styled dagger. Corvus slowly turns around and faces him as both men have their blades drawn. He takes one last glances around and makes sure there are no guards around. The two men then lunges at each other and find themselves pressing their free hands at the other’s hand with the daggers. Javajj manages to stab Corvus at his hip, but he manages to force the out and the men starts slashing and dodging each other’s attacks. During the knife fight, Javajj disarms Corvus and attempts to slash him, but Corvus counters his attack by grabbing his right arm and knee kicks Javajj at his chest 4 times. Javajj manages to break free and attacks again, but Corvus counters his attack with a punch to the face and performs a hip throw, slamming Javajj to the ground. Javajj does a sweep swipe with the dagger and this time, attempts to use both hands to stab him with the dagger. Corvus pushes back at his hand with the dagger and manages to force his left hand off the dagger and turns his right hand onto himself, making the dagger pointing to himself. Corvus pushes Javajj against the wall and causes his dagger to penetrate his chest. He then slams his right hand at Javajj’s hand, causing the dagger to penetrate deeper and grabs him at the shoulder to use his chest to push it down even more. Corvus slowly puts Javajj against a sitting position at the wall.

“Your blade is in your aorta. If you pull it out, you will bleed and you will die,” as Corvus stared him in the eyes. “Consider this a professional courtesy,” as Corvus stands up and picks up his ebony dagger. Corvus slowly walks away, leaving Javajj where he left him. He returns to the main street and plans his next move, but he is soon interrupted when he sees two heavily armored nords walking towards him. He starts to run and the two nords gives chase. He runs to down the steps and quickly pushes the door to the Warrens. He enters the homeless shelters and looks around for places to hide from the pursuing assassins. He looks around the area, only realize that he ran to a dead end. But the hopelessness is cut short when he spots a beggar with a small makeshift tent next to him. He notices the beggar’s left tattoo on his neck that resembles a bat with a diamond shape on the top and bottom. He recogonizes that as the emblem of Namira, the Daedric prince of darkness and decay. The beggar is mumbling incoherently, barely noticing Corvus’s presence. He approaches the beggar and drops a pouch of 125 septims. The sudden stops his mumbling and looks up at him.

“Take me to him,” as Corvus struggles to sit down, with his right hand pressed against the wound on his hip. “Tell him its Corvus Rem,” as he covers himself with the dirty blanket, trying to blend in. The beggar looks around for a second and quickly stands up to grab the cloths from the tent to completely cover Corvus and sits back down. The two pursuing nords rushes into the Warrens and looks around. The two nords then approaches beggar.

“Look at me, nobody can help me, a poor wretch of a man. Hey, can you spare any septims?” As the assassins drew closer, the beggar puts his fingers in his mouth and lets out a loud whistle. Suddenly two other beggars jump out and swiftly kills the two assassins. The beggar the bodies and nods at the other two before they start dragging the bodies away. The beggar looks at the tent, where Corvus lays.
