Introduction

Hello everyone. For this event build, I went with something simpler and straightforward : a Pirate with a lot of character, inspired by the romanced story of Anne Bonny.

Concept

This build started as another Daedra-themed one, as a Drukhari Pirate. However, while playing the prototype, it took an unexpected turn so I restarted it, with a new story.

Objectives for this build:

  • Get a crew on the Scarlett
  • Be loud and brutal
  • Finish the Dawnguard Questline

Essential mods:

  • Andromeda
  • Apocalypse
  • Dealing with Daedra suite
  • Forgotten Magic Redone
  • Live Another Life
  • Reliquary of Myth
  • Vokriinator

Character Creation

  • Race: High Elf

Mainly for the size, as they are the tallest race and Dealing with Background allows the MC to be even taller. This character is about one head taller than everyone.

  • Standing Stone: The Lord

Better power attacks, and free power attacks if necessary, especially early game. Later, one of the special moves makes it almost irrelevant.

  • Deity: Molag Bal

Valthyre does not worship Molag Bal in a traditional sense. She defies him, using his tools and powers as her own, as she fights his servants.

  • Stats: 1 Magicka / 3 Health / 1 Stamina. These values are just an example ; the only rule is to prioritize Health until you have good enough armor to survive.
  • Major Skills: Enchanting, Heavy Armor and Smithing are the cornerstones of this build. It’s tanky.
  • Minor Skills: One-Handed for the Mace, it requires 1 or 2 Perks until around level 30+~

Roleplay & Quests

Background

Valthyre grew in Cyrodil as the only child of an immigrant Altmer couple. Worshippers of Zenithar, they gave her their passion for honest hard handcraft. Early in her life, she just followed their teachings, getting quite good with her own hands. They had great hopes for her to inherit their shop.

This life, however, grew boring to her. In the later part of her teenage years, she got interested in the world, reading books after books about pirates. She even met some at the local tavern. This would change her life: after a brawl, she ran with one of the crew, leaving her family behind.

She spent a few years with them, making sure their ship and equipments were properly maintained. In a fight, Valthyre was also a great warrior: tall and used to hitting steel with a hammer, she could use a mace to crack a helmed skull.

Piracy for her means a life of freedom. She's not a heartless criminal, just incredibly chaotic. Her dream was to live free, as the captain of her own ship, at the helm of her own life, defying any rule. She heard a red ship had been stolen and hidden somewhere in Skyrim, but she’d need something more than an old steel mace to reclaim it. It would make for a better tale, like a legendary weapon from the stories she read. That’s when another sailor, a Nord, told her about a terryfing mace they found in Markarth. She would start there.

Perks

The most important perk to get ASAP is Charge Tap in Enchanting for the playstyle.

Early on, perks in smithing to improve the mace and create better heavy armors are the most important for offense and defense. Late game, The Heavy Armor perk Out of the Inferno increases survivability against mages while Toll the Bells in One-Handed makes for a great boost in burst damages. Only a minimal investment in Destruction for cheaper Void Bolts to regain Health is needed.

Gear

  • Circlet of waterbreathing
  • Forester aketon brown
  • Witchplate gauntlets & greaves
  • Orichalcum armor plates
  • Steel pauldrons & thighs armor
  • Mace of Molag Bal
  • Amulet of Zenithar

Quests

  1. ·         The House of Horrors: The reason she is in Markarth, it also sets up later quests.
  2. ·         The Scarlett: Get your own ship. Use the money from other quests to get a crew and furnish the ship.
  3. ·         Light Out! & The Rise in the East: Pirate related. Also, Rise in the East also comes with a new spell from Dealing with Daedra which is used in one of the special moves.
  4. ·         Dawnguard questline: Valthyre’s revenge against Molag Bal and her character arc. She joins the Dawnguard upon learning that they hunt vampires as a middle finger to Molag Bal. At first, she cannot stand Serana, but opens up to her after the discussion between Valerica and her daughter reminded her of herself. During the final battle, she gives the bow to Harkon and defeats him without it, as a show of dominance. Bonus point for letting him regain full HP at least once.
  5. ·         Boethiah’s Calling: Destroy the Daedric Prince’s cult in Skyrim and leave it at that.

Rule : never attack farmers or caravaneers, but be pityless against criminals like bandits and forsworns. Guards, Vigilants and Thalmor agents are also fair game.

Special moves:

  • Grand Entrance (Stormcall + Primal Fear + Warbringer): slowly walk toward your enemies under a storm you conjured, causing terror in the heart of the weak and being impervious to the attack of those brave enough to fight, while they are stricken by the thunder. Only works outdoor, but so cool.
  • Soul Stealer (Mace of Molag Bal + Charge Tap): Reliquary of Myth changes the Mace to recharge itself with the souls it devours if you do not have the correct soul gem. Using Charge Tap, you can regain Health, Stamina and Magicka and then recharge the Mace by killing one humanoid. Also synergizes with Toll the Bells thanks to the Stamina Regen.

Closing words

And that’s it! A simpler build compared to the previous ones, but I enjoyed how her story evolved.
