The Exsanguinator
Name: Exsanguinator
Weapon Type: Bladed/Hooked Lance
Ammunition: N/A
Description:
The Exsanguinator is the weapon of choice of esteemed blood mage and faithful Aímamer Shthelith within the Painted World.
It is a close range melee weapon crafted from ebony, in appearance similar to a lance, albeit as small and short as a dagger. Its conical, overall shape is lined with four evenly separated blades that stretch all the way to the hilt. These blades are jagged and adorned with little hooks that point into the direction of the wielder. Said hooks are also sharpened on their outer edges to make insertion into flesh easier.
In between the four major blades are four smaller blades with small holes in between stretches of sharp metal. Around the point where the lance and the hilt meet are also holes arranged in a circular pattern.
The Exsanguinator is hollow inside. Upon insertion into a victim, their blood will be gathered and redirected to flow out of the holes around the hilt, bleeding them out. Additionally, the hooks on the blades make removal of the Exsanguinator impossible without causing fatal damage to the body. If an attempt at removal is made, the most likely outcome is a great chunk of flesh being ripped from the victim's body, resulting in a fatal shock with irrevocable blood loss and inconceivable pain. That pain will not linger for long, however, for most whose Exsanguinators got removed died seconds after.
Notwithstanding the might such a tool presents, it is rather cumbersome to use in a war or on a battlefield with lots of combatants. While inserting it into a foe is swift, removing it requires prodigious strength most people do not have in order to pull it out in a timely manner. It is a great instrument for single-target assassinations, however.
This weapon can be enchanted to draw magic directly from the blood it saps, giving the wielder an edge in combat.
Backstory:
When Thorus Blackward of the Imperial Investigative Division from Cyrodiil got knocked out by a Scavenger's assault, he was taken under by the Aímamer Shthelith. Together, they plotted for the assassination of High Priestess of the Aímamer, Sárka.
Shthelith's weapon of choice is the Exsanguinator and with it, he fought a valiant battle against Sárka and her underlings in the chapel of the same name.
This weapon has been specifically designed to eliminate proficient blood mages and grand healers alike, as both groups are able to mend any injury in mere seconds. As such, the damage inflicted must be either continuous enough to drain their power or obliterative enough to kill them outright.
