The Prime Bestiary - Page IX: The Guardian

The Guardian

Name: The Guardian

Creature Type: Resurrected Undead/Armoured

Has Soul: No

Appearance:

The Guardian is a bipedal humanoid of regular to muscular stature. Most of its skin is missing, resulting in a lot of exposed flesh. The creature's right arm is replaced by a heavy iron blade bolted to the flesh and bone as to not dislodge itself in combat. Typically, that blade is about the length of three underarms.

Its entire body is protected by a bolted-on steel plating, securely fastened on the flesh and bones. Due to the nature of its armour, the creature leaves itself open for retaliation after each strike, for movement exposes weak spots in the form of gaps in between the armour plates.

Its head is protected by a sealed, black iron mask bearing no recognizable features. Its scalp is lined with spikes connected to each other by a metal wire.

Abilities:

Heave:

The Guardian lifts its heavy blade up into the air to strike its foes by letting it fall downwards, splitting its enemies in half.

Swipe:

The Guardian gathers its strength and swipes its blade sideways, cutting its adversaries around it horizontally in a circular motion.

Passive: Bolted Flesh:

Due to its armour, the Guardian is very difficult to injure as long as it stands in place. As soon as it moves however, gaps in between the armour plates form, leaving it open to retaliation.

Backstory:

The Guardian is the result of rather macabre experimentation conducted by a hidden cult of blood mages suspected to reside in Cyrodiil. In order for the Guardian to become such a monster, a living person is required to undergo a ritual by which most, if not all, of their skin is removed to leave their blood open to manipulation. After the skin removal, glyphs of curious origin get engraved into their flesh and and are then activated by certain invocations whereunto they start to burn, in most cases killing the victim. If the victim dies, the corpse gets instantly resurrected, ready to do its duty as a Guardian. If the victim survives, the soul will be trapped in that body until the Guardian dies, without the ability to influence the Guardian's actions.
