The Prime Bestiary - Page XI: The Aímamer

The Aímamer

Name: The Aímamer

Creature Type: Merish Race/Alive/Elves

Has Soul: Yes

Appearance:

The Aímamer are a merish race indigenous to the Painted World of Atebid. Like most elves, they sport slightly slanted eyes and pointy ears.

They are characterized by a deathly pallid, marbly white skin, glowing, red eyes and hair colours ranging from black to brunette to blonde with differing intensities.

Like all humanoid races, they sport two arms and hands with five fingers each, two legs and feet with five toes each, a head with two eyes, two ears, one mouth and one nose as well as a torso and abdomen. They are typically slender in stature.

Some Aímamer paint themselves with blood glyphs on face and body.

Their traditional garb consists of hooded crimson robes and vestments, not dissimilar to the ones found on the Crimson Cultists from Cyrodiil.

Abilities:

Passive: Natural Blood Mage:

Every Aímamer is born with a hereditary natural talent for blood magic. Most of them can control blood as a substance in their own bodies at will and draw magical power directly from it. More advanced mages can even control the blood of others and derive power from it. The most masterful obtain the ability to morph their very own body at will to create deadly weaponry from their extremities.

Dissolve:

The caster dissolves into a red mist and rematerializes elsewhere, similar to a teleport spell.

Scarlet Orb:

The caster conjures a scarlet orb that seeks to draw life from any surrounding enemies.

Reconstruction:

Blood magic allows the caster to heal even the ghastliest of injuries. More advanced mages can even regrow limbs to full functionality.

Shape Your Flesh:

The more masterful of mages are capable of morphing their body into a living, breathing weapon. This can take countless forms but generally results in spears, blades or tendrils being formed.

Backstory:

The Aímamer, or Blood Elves, are the indigenous race inhabiting the Painted World, similar to how Aureals or Mazken inhabit the Shivering Isles.

They are masters of blood magic and unconsecrated rituals most complicated and ghastly to the point of profound morbidity.

Their race is rather old, dating back to the very creation of their realm. Unlike most races throughout Tamriel, they don't share a common heritage in the Aldmer or Ehlnofey but are their very own ancient race. However, no sub-races have evolved from them.

Also contrary to most races outside the Mundus, they are not immortal. They can be killed and are not being reborn. However, what happens to their souls none can say.

Culturally, they are not inherently evil, in spite of what their surroundings and their looks might suggest. They are a ritualistic people, however, and do partake in rites abhorred throughout Tamriel.

As far as their history goes back, the Aímamer haven't had any conflict other than with the vicious wildlife they grew up with. However, one certain individual is about to change that.
