"Rise of an Empire" RP Character Profile: Kh'aius

BASICS

Name: Kh'aius (Redguards do not traditionally bear surnames)

Race: Redguard Male

Date of Birth & Age: 4E 153 (49 Years of Age)

Place of Birth: Sentinel, Hammerfell

Current Place of Residence: Candlehearth Hall in Eastmarch, Skyrim

Height & Weight: 6' 4" - 200 lbs

Personality: Kh'aius is a warrior and a veteran. He has gone through he darkest of hardships and seen things that most citizens of the Empire could hardly dream of. He is suspicious, reserved, dark, brooding, and grave. His sense of humor is typically non-existent, but when it emerges, it is always deadpan, and nobody can quite tell if he is joking. He hates the Thalmor and detests those who support them. He was once a hopeless alcoholic after the Great War, but the return of the Dovahkiin that the Blades had been looking for has dragged him from his stupor.

Kh'aius is corageous, but he does not always match the description of "noble." The scars of his past have left him harsh and sometimes cruel to his enemies. Sometimes he borders on what some might call "too far" in his retribution against the wicked.

Moral Alignment: Lawful Good

Kh'aius makes it into the Lawful Good category only because of his alligience to the Blades. The rules and laws of the Empire have become somewhat irrelevent to Kh'aius over the years, especially after the fall of the Blades. He can be somewhat morally ambiguous when it comes to the punishment of his enemies, and he is willing to break laws outside of the Blades' code of honor in the name of what he sees as just and right. In other words, he borders on Chaotic Good, but his following his oath to the Blades puts him just barely on the Lawful Good side of things.

Faction Affiliation: The Blades

Armaments: Full Blades armor, Akaviri Katana (Fine).

Non-Combat Equipment: Standard clothes and hood for hiding from the Thalmor. Backpack with some food, waterskin.

Spells and Powers: Basic Redguard starting spells (Flames, Healing) and the Redguard "Adrenaline Rush" power.

Skills: Expert - One-Handed

           Adept - Heavy Armor

                       Block

            Apprentice - Sneak

                              Smithing

            Novice - Restoration

BACKSTORY

Kh'aius was born to a Redguard family in Sentinel, Hammerfell. His father was a scholar who took great interest in the heritage of their people on the lost cotinent of Yokuda. He owned many ancient texts, but it was those concerning the Sword-Saints of old that held interest for Kh'aius. Although many boys his age followed the profession of their father, Kh'aius had always been more adventurous than his father. He wanted to become a fierce warrior and serve the Empire to which his family was loyal. Although his father was somewhat disappointed in his son's lack of interest in his profession, both partents were supportive of their son as it became clear that his goal was to join the Imperial Legion as he approached manhood.

With little more than his wits and some informal training as a warrior, Kh'aius left his home to join the Legion at the age of 18. He had originally planned to journey to Cyrodiil, but it turned out he was needed far more in his home province than anywhere else, for it was in that year that the Aldmeri Dominion attacked Cyrodiil and Hammerfell simultaneously. He was quickly accepted into a Hammerfell Imperial unit along with several other young men of his age.

It was at this age the he saw his first battle.

The new troops were ill-prepared and ill-trained, but the reality was that the Empire needed soldiers, and the people needed the Empire. The Third Aldmeri Dominion were an effective and efficient fighting force, and many didn't see past the dawn of the first battle. Kh'aius was one of the lucky few. He matured quickly on the battlefield, out of necessity if nothing else. His personality grew colder and graver and his heart hardened as he saw his friends and comrades fall beside him in battle after battle. There was no time for formal combat training. Battle was his training, and pain was his teacher.

He rose through the ranks at break-neck pace. One day, the morn before yet another conflict was to take place, an agent of the Blades visited the camp. He was to take command of their troop and lead them into battle. The fight progressed, and the Empire scraped one of it's rare victories under the leadership of the Blade. Kh'aius was interested. The Blades agent fought with a calm ferocity and ancient grace that he had never seen in any other warrior. His request for membership and training as a Blade was granted later that same day.

***

It was 4E 172, and Kh'aius had recieved rushed but effective combat training among the Blades. He learned quickly, and that served him well in their ranks. He now participated in battles as well as more specialized missions. He fought all across the Great War; in Hammerfell, in Cyrodiil, and participated in special missions in places beyond. His skill with an Akaviri Katana was becoming nearly unmatched among the Blades. They called him "Goraan Zahkrii Rahun" or "Young Sword-Saint." But everything took a turn for the worse when the Empire was forced to sign the White-Gold Concordat in 4E 175. Kh'aius was stationed at Wind Scour Temple in the Alik'r Desert when it was ransacked byt the Thalmor. Most Blades were slaughtered. He was one of the lucky few to escape. In later years, he would come to think he was not so lucky.

He fled in exile to the snowy peaks of Skyrim where he was forced to set aside his life as a Warrior. He made arrangements with the owner of the Candlehearth Hall, a sympathizer to the Blades who hated the Thalmor for banning the worship of Talos, in Windhelm to stay and be hidden from the Thalmor.  He was forced to lay aside his old blade, "Ven Tanziik" ("Wind Dancer") and his Blades armor, and live life undercover. He lost all hope of finding another Dragonborn and became an alcoholic: just another drunk veteran among the hundreds across Tamriel.

But the return of the Dovahkiin has awakened him. The rebuilding of the Blades chapter in Skyrim has reached his ears. He now takes up his old weapon and armor. Nothing will stop him from reclaiming his mantle as Goaan Zahkrii Rahun, and crushing the Third Aldmeri Dominion with every ounce of force he can muster.

  • Nicely Written Pixel. I really felt like I was stepping into the shoes of Kh'aius. And it was interesting to get the perspective of a chracter looking at whats happeniing or could be happening due to the Dragonborns influence. Usually you see things from the DB's perspective so this was a nice change. Gave me the feels of the blades agent you meet at the start of Oblivion if he had survived. (Poor Baurus, I could never manage to save him from the mythic dawn).

I just noticed a couple of gramatical errors. At the start where you have - Race: Rdguard Male (Change to Redguard). And under the personality part in the first line you need to pop a space between thatmost (that most).

Any way great job man and It'll be cool to see more from ya soon :)

    • Thanks dude! You might want to consider joining the RP server this is for. Fimvul has a nice place running there.

+ Thanks for the edits. I will fix those now.
