Character Build: The Hero of Man

Hello all. Welcome to a build I have been very excited to bring you. This build is your quintessential hero. He draws inspiration from the Greek heroes of old, one in particular. Enjoy!!

They say the stories of great men and women and preserved in the stars; Their deeds splayed out across the sky. Certainly a legacy one can hope to live up to.

---------------------------------------------------

Race: Nord

I chose Nord for this build as they are strong warriors and the starting skills fit nicer into the skill set than the other races. Other races work to, however, but try not to pick an elf or beast, this is the Hero of Man, not Mer.

Standing Stone: The Atronach Stone

The Atronach Stone gives an amazing magic resistance boost that helps fight against mages and dragons. The magicka boost helps in clutch for heals but since you won’t use magic that much, the regen decrease is basically irrelevant.

Att. Spread: 0/1/2

---------------------------------------------------

One-Handed - This tree is used to augment your Glass Mace which serves as your primary weapon. Using Potions of Paralysis with the mace lets you take foes out of the battle. Enchantments for your mace include Absorb Stamina and Fear. The Absorb Stamina will help keep your already very hefty stamina pool full, while the fear will keep enemies away while providing for the RP of a big, hulking warrior.

Archery - This tree is utilized to augment your Glass Bow* which is your secondary weapon, and your only form of range. Using Potions of Damage Magicka/Magicka Regen with the bow can help combat mages. Enchantments for the bow again include Absorb Stamina and Fear for the same reasons before.

Light Armor - This tree is used to augment your armor set: Glass Boots, Ulfric’s Bracers, Stormcloak Officer Cuirass and Helmet. Enchantments for your armor include Resist Frost and Resist Magic to combat mages who can drain your stamina. Also consider Fortify Stamina Regen to help regain stamina during and after fights.

Alchemy - This tree helps you make better poisons for your weapons. The perks chosen, however, focus on crafting beneficial potions, as these are your main form of healing.

*Images show an Imperial Bow. This is a viable option but the reason is due to the images being early photos. It’s just a photo. A nice photo too. Man, cinematics are cool. You should check out the art group for more cool art and screenshots. Man, I’m hungry. Update: I had dinner. Are you still here? Why are you still reading this? Get on with the build! Or not, I don’t control you.

-----------------------------------------

Backstory:

The Hero of Man is a veteran of the Imperial Legion. He has seen war and once fought alongside General Tullius himself. He was known in the Legion for his incredible strength and strong moral compass. After he retired, he settled down in the Imperial City, eventually deciding to move to Skyrim. Upon arrival, he found it in chaos, with the return of dragons, the civil war and the vampire menace. He found himself donning his battle armor once more to defend his new home.

Roleplaying:

You’ll want to join up with the Imperial Legion. You have connections from your time in Cyrodiil and having served with General Tullius before and would help an old friend out if it meant peace. You will also want to complete both the Main Questline and the Dawnguard Questline, siding with the Greybeards and the Dawnguard respectively. The Hero of Man doesn’t believe a power like the voice should be abused (Another reason to side against Ulfric) and wants to protect the world, not conquer it. Another faction to consider are The Companions as they are dedicated to helping Skyrim. Mercenary work might suit him too. You might play him as a reluctant hero. He wants peace and retirement, but as long as there is evil, he must fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Well, that’s it folks. Another build from your’s truly. As always, feedback is appreciated. I feel like I don’t say this enough so: Huge Thanks to ThePixelArrowProductions for doing all the perkspreads and the titles. None of this could be what it is without him so major shout out to him. Thanks for reading.

  • Well done Percival! I love all the mythology-inspired builds  you're coming out with. And with each one you make I can see improvement and small tweaks to your style and format. Not to say that the others aren't good of course, but I think growth is a very valuable and important thing to notice.

I definitely like the roleplaying idea for making him a "reluctant hero." Putting in roleplaying suggestions like that is a nice touch. For me, it kinda fuels my imagination and gives readers the kickstart they need if they want to play the character.

P.S. that footnote made me laugh lol

    P.P.S. thanks for the shoutout.

  • Looks great, Percival. One question though; how can you get two enchantments on your equipment without leveling enchanting?

    • Well, the enchantments listed are just suggestions. If you want to have both, you have to perk enchanting but I didn't put it as a requirement. Some people tend to not like the Crafting skills so two in one build might have been a turn-off. Personally, I had Fear on my mace and Absorb Stamina on the Bow but you can do what ever you like.

  • All around, this is a pretty good build. Good job.
